Pat B. Mitchell
Your Super Dooper Dog Training Owner and Founder
Pat’s an Atlanta native and a graduate of The Westminster Schools and University of Georgia. Her interest in becoming a certified dog trainer led her to Jo-Thor Trainer’s Academy where she graduated with honors to become a certified dog trainer. Over thirteen years ago, after graduation and a move to Flowery Branch, she opened Super Dooper Dog Training.
Pat, her husband Dirk and their three animals - one dog Dooper and two rescue cats Molly and Scully - travel to Park City, Utah where they live at their condo for a few months during the year. Pat is active in two Methodist churches; one in Georgia and the other in Utah. When she’s not training students, Pat thrives on her faith, her yoga, her hiking with Dooper and friends, her biking, swimming and golfing. She's a high-energy gal. She loves reading, photography and making videos of people with their dogs.
Pat loves to learn especially about how to be a better dog trainer. "Never stop learning and never ever get cocky about what you know," Pat is a constant learner and travels all over the country attending seminars on dog training by leading trainers and behaviorist like Suzanne Clothier, John Rice and John Rogerson to name a few. And she's constantly watching videos and reading books from the best trainers in the field. Her library of books and DVDs is immense.
Most important to Pat, besides training, is her Therapy Dog work. Pat and Dooper are a Therapy Dog team and have been visiting hospitals weekly for over eight years. They are members of Alliance of Therapy Dogs and Pat is active as an approved Tester/Observer for them in both Utah and Georgia. Pat’s fast becoming the “GO-TO” trainer for Therapy Dog Training for people and their dogs to learn how to visit: kids, assisted living homes, hospitals, hospices, schools and libraries.
Pat and Dooper have their own training DVD! That’s right, Pat and her dog Dooper star in their very own training DVD called Teach that Dog! Super Good Manners, which is for dogs 5 months and older and which follows her Super Good Manners 6-weeks training class.
